Energy is best when it is positve.
Focus tunes with energy.
Everyday we have 24 hours.
Managing time, with negative energy and distracted focus is called wasting time.
Overdose of TV, especially news = negative energy
Multitasking, especially working on a document, with intermittent checking of twitter & FB = distracted focus

Opportunity knocks once, temptation leans on the doorbell
This is powerfully true.
How many times, when you start working on an opportunity (normally which requires much time) - you feel like checking Facebook, twitter, watching TV or youtube, or may be a little nap?
Temptation (distractions) are plenty.
Opportunities come for those who are prepared.
Preparation = controlling temptations = Saving time.

Every day before you leave office
Pause.
Write down what you have achieved. In a journal, in your words, as if you are talking with your mind.
Write the best parts, even if it is minute.
Write the worst parts, just to get it out of your head.
So when you step out of office, you are open to the world as it is. Traffic will not frustrate you, shop queues will not depress you.

Managing (Balancing) Time
Most time management thinking focuses on prioritizing. Setting goals.
It is correct. The most painful thing right now - gets the attention.
But it should add this too.
Balance
Because you have goals as well as roles. A human can be connected to someone as a father, mother, brother, sister, son , daughter, office colleague, manager, sports buddy, mango friend, aunt, uncle. etc.
Pick your roles too.
Balance connects you to your overall mission and your principles. It is peaceful.

Empathy works.
At noon, under scorching sun and sweat dripping, I entered the salon.
"Sorry, I am closing, going for lunch."
I said " Sure, it's damn hot, you should get a break and have lunch. I can wait till you come."
He stared at me in a surprised expression.
"What?" I asked.
"You are different. You said you can wait. I never heard it before from a customer. That's why I have gastric now. Anyways I'll be right back soon."
He was back in 20 minutes. There were 3 more customers behind me.
He said to me " I usually close the saloon for 45 minutes for lunch. Today I did not close and have more customers. Thanks !"
I could feel he was energized. He took lesser time with my hair, than a typical day.

A hour early. That's it.
A perfect new year resolution one can ever make. If you normally wake up at 6, make a habit to wake up at 5. Many, including me, are skeptic at first. We all know waking early is good. Many brilliant thinkers & leaders did that. Their bios tell the success of waking up early.
Yet we are not quite sure, until we wake up early. Then the question is 'what to do?'
There are many things, but the best tactic I found successful is starting with exercise. Do it for 10 minutes. Continue daily. That's the key. Daily.
