Our future is CLOUDED !

Apple:
In 1983, the Mac PC, named LISA, had a memory of 1.7 MB, roughly enough for one or two pictures. $ 10,000 was the price tag.
When asked in 1998, what "i" stands for in iMAC, Steve Jobs said " 'i' stands for internet, individual, instruct, inform and inspire."

Steve Jobs has the midas touch. This year Apple announced iCloud. I get the feeling, that Apple is on to some thing big. Really big.

Recently Apple built one of the largest data centres in the world - the size of 9 football fields, costing $1 billion. "iCloud" will be the central role in this massive data centre, selling set of online services to people to access music, photos, files and software across devices. Jobs said,
"We are going to demote the PC and the Mac to be just devices, we will move your digital hub, your digital life right in to the cloud"

Amazon:
Latest on board is Amazon with their web browser SILK and FIRE- the Kindle tablet. Amazon says,

"Silk, the browser, which will be available on the Amazon Fire tablet, dramatically cuts down on load times and request times by splitting the workload between the tablet and Amazon’s cloud. This infusion of cloud computing is the secret sauce that makes the Silk browser load pages quickly. Silk also invokes predictive technology. It utilizes machine learning to detect user behavior and predict what the user will request next."

This is a remarkable innovation, and you should watch this youtube (6 minutes) to understand fully.

Future:
Need I say anything about Google and Microsoft.? They are all on cloud, big time. So the race is on for the biggest chunk of real-state in the cloud.

There's no doubt, Cloud is the way forward. But for the consumers, these increased options brings dilemmas.
Hold on to your pockets. Be patient. Think hard before you act.

@Udendra - yes, cloud is making internet transparent in many ways. Will there be any ugly side?

@Saptha - agreed. I see lot of differences in individuals vs Corporates, when it comes to acceptance of cloud. Individuals accept with open arms, while corporates still contemplate...What are the reasons for that?
